Internet Marketing: WordPress, SEO, Google Indexing & Splogs »

If you read my post called “Internet Marketing & WordPress: Nancy Andrews Was Right - Forget Social Networking“, then you’ll know that geting indexed in Google is extremely fast if you’re using WordPress or some other blogging tool to get your pages (and site) re-indexed quickly.
And I mean *really* quickly. Those of you that remember, will know that it only takes a couple of minutes and Google go through your site, re-index and you can rank well for your keyword terms (if you’ve written your content properly, that is!)
Well… I now tend to check my site when I’ve done a post as it’s pretty amusing to see how quickly I can get my pages indexed. And I’m loving it when it does it well.
For example, the WordPress Plugin Review on the WordPress LinkSync (aka Blogroll Sync) plugin that I wrote on about an hour ago has already been indexed.
That’s amusing in itself.
But here’s something funnier…

Worst Internet Marketing Copywriter Award 2007 »
Written by Zain on November 29th, 2007{ 7 comments }
I’m going to claim this title now even though there’s no awards ceremony.
Why am I admitting to this now?
Well, to be honest, my copy sucks, is completely untargetted and I’m not sure that people read this stuff anyway. A few comments here and there but mostly people only come to this site for one thing. And it sure isn’t the copy!
How Do I Know My Copy Sucks?
Well, the (ir)regular readers of my blog will know that I’ve been off for several weeks now. Partly as an experiment and partly due to knowing that my efforts in the Internet Marketing game aren’t getting me very far. In fact, checking regularly on my Google Analytics screen I see that my traffic has INCREASED since I STOPPED writing. Go figure! Maybe if I shut up long enough maybe I could get some really decent traffic to my siteFor a lot of you, this might be a great strategy to implement - I’ve seen some awful copywriting (but I really think this 1 reason is enough to prove that I should hold this title!). I might do an ebook called “Easy Ways to Get More Traffic by STFU!”. Who knows… it might do better than I’m currently doing. 7 Copywriting Tips From A Copywriter Who Sucks » Read On »
Internet Marketing: Illness »

I’ve been ill.
I still am.
My cough just doesn’t want to shift at all and I’m rattling more than an old jalopy… I’ve had more than just a cold - stomach problems but, really folks, let’s not go there!
Anyway, today’s the first day that I’ve felt like doing a proper post - it’s been a while. I had a few partially written but I think they’re off their sell-by date now. If you’re lucky and I feel up to it, I may finish them off and post them anyway…
So… what’s being ill got to do with Internet Marketing? Well, quite a bit really. What's Internet Marketing got to do with Illness anyway? »»
A Weird Winding Journey To Excellence »
Written by Zain on September 17th, 2007{ 2 comments }
It’s been an interesting week.
It’s been one of those periods where it’s been necessary to take a step back, re-assess the current situation and re-double my efforts. Admittedly, not much has really been done this last week. Not for the lack of trying. Or the lack of enthusiasm. Sometimes the universe just delivers a whole heap of junk mail and you just got to sort out the essentials from the spam.
It’s time to start re-focusing on what really matters. And what really matters right now is Excellence…
To kick off tonight’s show, I’d like to start with another little clip from Bill Hicks… (Get used to it people, he’s a major influence and you really got to listen to what this chain-smoking, dead guy is saying!).

What’s a four letter word, ending in K, meaning “intercourse”?
I’m sure I can guess pretty much what most of you are thinking…
Four letter word, ending in K meaning "intercourse"... It's obvious, isn't it?

You may have noticed the change to the site design. What you won’t have notice is the change in Attitude. Yet. Keep reading…
There’s going to be some big changes round here - so you better get with it or Get Off My Blog!
Let me just say, this post you’re about to read is definitely NSFW (And if you don’t know what that means, GIMF!). No more G or PG rating. It’s time to take off the gloves and pull no punches… A drastic change to our site strategy. Why?
Michel Fortin ROCKS! »
Written by Zain on July 1st, 2007{ Add Comment }
I have a confession to make (don’t you just love that opening line?). A couple of months ago, I’d never even heard of Michel Fortin. I couldn’t even pronounce his name as I couldn’t work out if it was “Me-Shell Four-tuhn” (as it appear’s French in orgin) or just plain “Michael Fort’in” (Americanised). I had no idea who he was or what he did until I got an email from my very clued up Internet Marketing friend, Saumil, in India…
Basically, I’d just released this plugin (an update are coming soon, I promise) and I get this email from Saumil saying how this guy Michel Fortin had written a very nice review about FAQ-Tastic.
My initial response was like “Cool! …uh, who’s Michel Fortin?” and his reply was along the lines of “ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?” (okay, so I’m paraphrasing for dramatic effect here!). He went on to explain how Michel’s actually really big in the copywriting niche and has a huge list and usually charges for reviews - so basically I’d already made my money back on the plugin I’d commissioned!
Nice.
Starving Children & Internet Marketing »
Written by Zain on May 27th, 2007{ 1 comment }
Yesterday, Stephen Pierce launched an appeal - For A Greater Cause - to help feed 1,000,000 starving children. His aim is to raise enough money within 72 hours to provide a meal for each starving child. Simply visit the website and add your name to download a free report and for each name that is collected, a plate of food will be donated to feed a starving child.
I applaud his efforts and also his intentions. If you are reading this, I would urge you all to add your name NOW. I already have done. It only takes a minute to sign up and help.
While I am very much impressed with the goal that has been set and Stephen’s desire to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves, I have concerns about the methods employed. Thinking about what it takes to get people to help each other, I am left with the bitter taste of cynicism as I consider - do we really need to be bribed to make a donation?
Hot Dang… I’ve been Skammed! »
Written by Zain on May 20th, 2007{ 2 comments }
I’ve literally just sat down for a quick Sunday evening email check and discovered that I’ve been Skammed! James Enck coined the term Skam to mean Skype Spam.
Doing a quick search for Skype Spam, I found that it’s not a recently phenomenon - it goes way back. An Engadget article noted users experiencing Skams more than 2 years ago (dated March 2005). It’s strange - I’ve been on Skype for quite a while now and this is the first time it’s happened. Maybe I’ve been lucky up ’til now…
Anyway, here’s the Skam I received (edited - as I don’t give the Skammers more publicity than they deserve!):
